    Description

Brazilian Amazonian vintage hand implements – seed rattle, small club, wooden pick. All of these pieces were purchased by me from a missionary store supporting indigenous crafts in Belem, Pará, Brazil in 1970.
    Rattle:
This piece is made of woven split palm leaves, plain and dyed black (quite fragile from age). Unknown species of dried tropical seeds inside. (One corner has been glued shut to keep seeds inside.) 12” long.
    Club
    :
Unknown tropical blond hardwood, very dense, covered with strips of palm leaf, plain and dyed black, in geometric patterns (very fragile because of age – 50 years old), hand-twisted fiber string. 14” long, weighs 9 oz.
    Pick:
12” long tropical hardwood “needle”, possibly rosewood, very dense wood. Sharp point. Handle originally had palm fiber latticework decoration, now deteriorated.
    From a smoke-free environment
Please be sure to look at the photos closely to check the condition of the piece and to see what is being offered.
