SUNDERLAND c1837 Large Jug WILLIAM IV Ship 2 Verses Maling or Tyneside AS ISSUNDERLAND c1837 Large Jug WILLIAM IV Ship 2 Verses Maling or Tyneside AS IS
MAKER: Sunderland Potter, possibly Maling or Tynside - I've seen the decoration and one of the verses attributed to Tyneside and the William IV under full sail attributed to Maling. Circa 1830-1837 - possibly commemorating the death of William IV
MATERIAL: Earthenware
PIECE NAME: Large Jug with transfer of William IV under full sail and 2 verses.
DIMENSIONS: 9" tall, 10 3/4" handle to spout.
CONDITION: SOLD AS IS - rim flake to the interior of mouth (photo 9) but more importantly it's criss crossed with hairline cracks. It appears to have been reinforced with some glue on the interior - but it never appears to have actually broken apart as the hairlines don't go clean through the piece. Great piece. Transfers and color are excellent. Make an offer. Wine for scale and not included in sale!
