Staffordshire Prattware Child's Plate "Employ Time Well...", Raised Floral Border, c. 1820 - 1835. This small plate is very attractive with a blue transfer printed transfer scene and an embossed Pratt decorated floral rim. The transfer scene shows a mother and her three children near their house, with boats on the water near the house. The dish has an embossed hand-painted floral design around the edge of the dish. This has a moral saying around the border that reads, "Employ time wellif thou meanest to gain leisure. Ine to day is work, two tomorrow. Since thou art not sure of a minute, throw not away an hour."
