This miniature
plate
was originally part of a complete childs
dollhouse
dinner
set
.
The tiny plate
measures
3
-1/
2
inches
across
with a
scalloped rim,
transfer printed in
deep
cobalt
blue or flow blue
finished with pearlware glaze.
The plate is decorated in an unc ommon pattern of lush weeping willows or forest like foliage.
The
plate
is marked
with an impressed beehive mark from Samuel Alcock in the Staffordshire potting district of England in the early mid-19th century
. T
he
pattern name "FOREST"
also called “SEAWEED”
. Considered a rare pattern.
Th
e
plate
is in
great
condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Stilt marks, transfer smudges, glaze imperfections, original to the making and typical of the period. A fine example of a
scarce
Victorian children's pattern,
sold as shown.
Children's transferware of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after. Early children's collectors and Americana collectors will be happy to add
