Description

This is a lovely Romantic Staffordshire 2 piece CHESTNUT BASKET with matching reticulated Underplate - in Blue - titled POMERANIA - by John Ridgway - (Hanley, Staffordshire - 1830-1841).
The footed Basket is decorated with a landscape scene in the center and a floral border inside and out. It has a scalloped edge, embossed handles and the distictive piercing around the sides. The underplate features the same decor but is the only piece in the set with the maker's mark.
Measurements
: BASKET - 11.75" handle to handle, 8.75" side to side, 3.25" high handle, 2.75" high edge, base - 5.75" x 4.25". UNDERPLATE - 11" x 9", 1" high edge.
