    ABOUT // EMBERA CHAMI TRIBE
Indigenous peoples from Colombia and Panama - Population: ~83,000 people - The Emberá Chami originate from the Darien region of Panama and the Choco region of Colombia. The Emberá Chami's precious glass beadwork is part of the culture of some of the ethnic groups that inhabit the pacific coast of Colombia. The Emberá Chami is one of the ancestral tribes that have suffered from the Colombian armed conflict. For more than two decades, these families like many other tribes have been forced to leave their territories by the Guerrilla groups. By purchasing this art you are supporting families that have struggled this harsh reality and are now in a designated territory provided by the government. The designs are full of symbology from their traditions including animals, plants and cosmology.
