This is a very pretty fossil leaf. It is a large Allophylus flexifolia from the Green River Formation of Utah. This leaf has the slightly serrated margins intact, and the primary venation is easily seen. The rounded tip of the leaf is present, and the small petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The brown leaf contrasts well with the light khaki-colored matrix. The distinct fossil is very well centered on the semi-squared plate of shale and displays quite well. This is an excellent example of Allophylus from
the "Fossil Lake" deposits.
