This blue miniature gravy pitcher or sauce boat, circa 1840, was originally part of a complete miniature child's dinner service for dollhouse play. The elongated pitcher stands 2 inches tall on a raised pedestal base and measures 3-1/4 inches long.   Extremely well potted, to the standards usually only found in full-size Staffordshire table wares, it is transfer printed in a soft country blue, finished with pearlware glaze.  Decorated with a ribbon of rings within rings.
The little pitcher is unmarked. It was made by an unknown pottery maker in the Staffordshire region of England from the period of 1830-40.
The trifle is in great condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Stilt marks on the foot rims, glaze irregularity and other typical manufacturing imperfections, original to the making. Offered as is, a fabulous little gravy boat to display in the finest dollhouse! Children's transferware of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after.
We have also listed other miniature dinner and tea wares along with other great examples of colorful miniature transferwares this week -- mix and match for a lovely collection. We are always happy to combine postage on multiple purchases.
