    Description

    Banknote Russia
    5 ruble 1923 (first issue)
    Soviet Government
Introduced in March 1923 during the denomination (the new ruble was exchanged for 100 rubles of the 1922 sample), while the 1922 bills continued to circulate until the fall, when the new type of banknotes of 1923 came out (with a changed inscription on the reverse side).
The drawing has a horizontal orientation, decorated in green, brown, yellow and blue tones. Printed by the First Moscow Printing Factory of Goznak.
The front side has a solid background, consisting of repeating numbers "5" and the words "RUB" located diagonally. In the middle there is a complex patterned frame, in the corners of which there are circles with the numbers "5" inclined at 45 degrees; in the upper and lower parts of the frame in the middle the date is indicated - "1923", and on the left and right there are large guilloche rosettes indicating the denomination: a large figure "5", on top of which the word "FIVE", at the bottom in a semicircle "RUBLES". Inside the frame on the left is the coat of arms of the RSFSR of 1920, to the right of it inscriptions: in two lines - "STATE MONEY SIGN", below in large print - "FIVE RUBLES", then below the coat of arms - "PROVIDED WITH ALL THE PROPERTY OF THE REPUBLIC." Below are the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and the chief cashier, under them the series and number are repeated twice series.
The reverse side has a solid background consisting of repeating digits "5" and the words "RUB" located diagonally. In the middle there is a frame similar to the front side, but without a date in the upper and lower parts and without rosettes indicating the denomination. In the middle, over a large colored number. "5" inscription: "ONE ruble of 1923 is equal to ONE MILLION RUBLES IN DENNOTS WITHDRAWAL FROM CIRCULATION, OR ONE RUBLES IN DENNARKS OF 1922. RECEPTION BY THIS CALCULATION IS OBLIGATORY FOR EVERYONE."
Cashier signature options: A. Sapunov, A. Silaev, Loshkin, A. Selliavo, M. Kozlov, Dyukov, A. Belyaev, I. Kolosov, Porokhov, L. Onikov. On banknotes of this denomination, only the AB series is found. The series number on different copies can be repeated, since it is not a serial number of the banknote.
