This one gram [1,000 milligram] 24 karat pure "Batman's 80th Anniversary" Gold Note commemorates the first appearance of the fictional superhero developed by artist Bob Kane and written by Bill Finger. Starting with the Detective #27 comic book in May, 1939, Batman fought criminals assisted by his butler Alfred, Police Commissioner Jim Gordon and loyal sidekick Robin. The Gold Note was minted in 2019 by the New Zealand Mint, a privately owned smelting, precious metals retrieval and minting company in Auckland, New Zealand. Known as "the Minters of the South Pacific," the company was authorized to manufacture the "Batman" Gold Note by the tiny island nation of Nuie, located in the South Pacific, a country largely composed of 14 villages made up of Polynesian peoples. The Obverse features a stylized image of Batman at lower left, a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at top right and the year of mintage and legal tender value of . On the Reverse is a colorful image of Batman on the right, with Gotham at top left engulfed in flying bats, which creates a menacing black surrounding the city. The background has amazingly etched graphics of Batman in various poses creating a stunning appearance, along with the original black case with cartoon drawings of Batman on the inside top lid. The Serial Number of this Gold Note is 19000361 and only a very limited mintage of 1,000 worldwide were ever made.
